1. Juicing is just a trendy fad diet, there’s no real science behind why it’s good for me

Juicing isn’t a quick fix and it’s not going to shred away all your fat like liposuction. However, research has shown many health benefits relating to juicing. Drinking beet juice has been proven to lower blood pressure and is now being accepted as a food to help improve exercise endurance because of its natural nitric oxide content. National Institutes of Health, “Carrot juice was found to help reduce white blood cell DNA damage in smokers.” Many bottled juices are loaded with preservatives to give them a longer shelf life. Our juices are only made with 100% fruits and vegetables and nothing else. It’s very difficult to eat the same amount of fruits and vegetables our juices contain in a day. This is why juicing is a great option. Our digestive system doesn’t have to work as hard when we consume in juice form. This allows the body to take a little break from digestion during a cleanse while we get all the nutrition we need and getting out a lot of waste that gets stuck in our intestines and colon over time. The Gerson therapy is also known for treating cancer patients based on natural treatments that activate the body’s extraordinary ability to heal itself through an organic, vegetarian diet, raw juices, coffee enemas and natural supplements. 2. There’s not enough protein in my juice cleanse to reach my recommended daily intake

We need between 46 and 56 grams of protein per day depending on sex and body type. There are a couple of common mistakes people make on a daily basis in regards to protein. Many people eat protein in only one of their meals in a day. When you do this, your body isn’t able to digest much of it and it ends up leaving your body unused. When you are juicing, you are spreading out the protein you are consuming throughout the day allowing your body to fully use all that nutrients. Many times people will also consume most of their protein from the same source not giving your body a wide variety of proteins. A “complete protein” is one that provides all nine amino acids you need in your diet. Varying your protein sources will ensure you’re getting all nine. While juicing, you are getting a variety of protein from all the different fruits and vegetables in our juices. While you won’t be getting any protein from meats, you will still be able to get plenty of protein. We have two juices which contain protein to get you through the day. Our juice bottle #1 contains Chia seeds and our juice bottle #6 contains Cashews which are high in protein. Chia seeds contain 4.7 grams of protein per ounce and Cashews contain 5 grams per ounce. Our juice bottle #2 and #5 contains kale. Kale is a superfood and is also high in protein.

If you’re worried about not getting enough protein, you can also add spirulina powder to your juices. Spirulina is another high-protein superfood. “Spirulina contains a high amount of protein, vitamins, and minerals. It is about 60-70% protein, which is greater gram for gram than both red meat and soy. It also contains all of the essential amino acids, which makes it a complete protein; this is not very common in plant foods. It contains a large amount of Vitamin B12, which is very difficult to find in other plant foods. That is one reason why Spirulina is such a great choice for vegetarians. Spirulina is very rich in iron, which is the most common mineral deficiency. Spirulina also contains calcium, magnesium, and Vitamins A, B, C, D and E. ”

3. Juicing isn’t better than eating whole fruits and vegetables

We aren’t saying that! Eating fruits and vegetables is a great way to be healthy and feel good. The main purpose of a juice cleanse is to let your digestive system take a rest and rid your body of toxins that don’t normally leave your body. Some of the vegetables in our juices are normally not digestible in the quantities our juices contain, kale for example, so you will be able to get more nutrients than normally. Vegetables are either high in soluble fiber or insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber veggies are much easier to digest while insoluble veggies are more difficult. Unfortunately, there is a pretty big list of vegetables which are high in insoluble fiber which is why juicing can be a great alternative to eating these vegetables in large quantities because it is much easier on your stomach. Many people have a hard time digesting unprocessed kale. It is recommended to cook kale or drink it in juice form. A lot of times people will cook kale to be able to digest better and while that is not bad for you, it will lose some of the nutrients when cooked. Juicing it is the best way to receive as much of the nutrients as you can while also being able to digest it. We recommend you to eat vegetable and fruits daily but drink juices for added nutrients. Especially for those that have a hard time getting the recommend daily fruits and veggies intake. We recommend going on a 3 day juice cleanse once a month to give your digestive system a break.

 

4. All juice is the same

In today’s complicated juice market, it’s confusing to pick out the best juice. Why not buy the $4 apple juice from the supermarket instead of buying $10+ juice at a juice bar? What’s the difference between the juice at the supermarket, the one you see at Starbucks, juice at your local farmers market or the ones you make at home yourself?

 

There are 4 different types of juices

  1. Reconstituted juices – This juice is made from concentrated cranberry or apple juice and mix with water. It sits in the bins for about 6 to 9 months before bottling. It’s practically sugar, flavoring, and water. It has a long shelf life of more than one year.
  2. Flash-pasteurized juice – Exposed to heat for a short period of time. The heat kills all the unwanted pathogen in the juice, that tries to eat away at all the good stuff that we want to absorb in our body. This juice is better than reconstituted juices but that heat also kills off some of the good stuff that’s in the juice. Some nutrients may retain in juice.
  3. High-Pressure Processing – Use pressure to kill pathogens, not heat. Juice is bottled in its final package and is being put in a high-pressure vessel and they increase water pressure to 98,000 lbs. Just like taking the juice bottle into the deepest part of the ocean times eight. This juice will last up to 3 to 4 weeks. There are more nutrients in this juice than in the previous two. It’s a good choice when you’re on the road.
  4. Fresh cold-pressed juice – This is the best kind of juice. You can make your own juice at home or purchase at the local juice bar. These juices are natural, raw and freshly pressed so it retains the most nutrients out of the 4 types of juice.

5. You won’t have any energy when cleansing

 

This may be true depending on the person. Juice cleansing might not be for everyone. People have a different experience and reaction when they try juice cleansing for the first time. If you haven’t been taking care of your body and eating healthy, you body might have a harder time adjusting to the process. If you’re medicating or have some type of illness, we recommend consulting with your Dr. prior starting a cleanse.

If you’re going on a 3 day cleanse, the first day might be the hardest because your body is trying to get used to the cleansing process. One of detoxing symptom is feeling fatigue. To avoid or lessen the detoxing symptoms while, on your cleanse, we will send you tips & instructions to prep 2 – 3 days before starting the juice cleanse.

Also, fruit has natural sugars in which will help you get through the day not feeling sluggish. In fact, once you begin ridding your body of toxins and caffeine, most people feel more energized than they did before starting the cleanse. The third day is considered the breakthrough day for many people. The first day or two, you may experience less energy than normal which is normally related to not having caffeine if you are a coffee drinker. Once you become independent of coffee and other caffeine sources, your body doesn’t tell you it needs it anymore. Juice cleanses helps you lessen your addiction to caffeine because once you stop drinking caffeine it leaves your body within 3 days. Without caffeine, you can wake up in the morning and start your day without the thought of needing something to get going and many people don’t experience any less energy than when they were drinking caffeine. If you are a heavy coffee drinker, like I was, you will save a great deal of money as well when you give it up! I used to spend $5 per day on average on coffee. That’s $1,825 a year!
